Who was it created by?
- Mesa Verde National Park was established in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt.
- 600,000 people visit the park annually.
- The Cliff Palace is the biggest attraction of Mesa Verde. It was built by the Ancient Pueblo Peoples and it is the largest cliff house in North America.
- The Balcony House is a must-see as well with its beautifully preserved walls from the 13th century.
- There are many opportunities for hiking in Mesa Verde National Park, and anywhere you go, it will be breathtaking.
- While you are there, it would be a good idea to check out the Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center. You should do this first, so that you can learn a little something about the history of the park, before experiencing it.
- Indoors lodging includes the Far View Lodge. It is located on the park road by mile marker 15. Morefield campground in also the only campground, but it has 267 sites so it rarely fills all of the way up.
- The park costs $15.00 to get into in the summer, and $10.00 in the winter. The park is open year round, all hours. However, most businesses in the park close up during winter time. The best time to go is in the summer.
