Welcome to Kenai Fjords National Park!
Who was it created by?
- Kenai Fjords National Park was established in 1980 by The Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act.
- 300,000 people visit the park annually.
- The Exit Glacier is the biggest attraction of Kenai Fjords National Park. You can take a moderate-skill-level hike to the Glacier, or you can go to ranger-led talks.
- During the summer, you can take cool boating tours through the park, if you make reservations at a nearby town's harbor.
- The Harding Icefield Trail is a good trail to hike if you want to see all of the scenery that the park has to offer.
- Kayaking is also something you should have on your list for this park. Water taxis can take you into the calmer bays and lagoons in the park where you can start your adventure.
- Two historic cabins, Aialik and Holgate are open for public use in the summertime. Willow cabin is open in the winter. Also, the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge is open during the summer months as well. The park also includes a 12-site campground near the Exit Glacier.
- The park is free to get into, anytime you go. The park is open year round, all hours. However, most businesses in the park close up during winter time. The best time to go is in the summer.
